Here in the Chicago area, we don’t love winter, but we can handle it. At The RAM Restaurant & Brewery, one of the original Illinois craft brewers with over 20 years of brewing and 45 years as a restaurant company, winter’s no problem! You can warm yourself up with small-batch and flagship beers, served in 18 oz. signature glasses or 10 oz. shorty glasses at lunch.

When’s a good time to drink these beers? Well, all the time, naturally. But certainly Happy Hour is a great time to meet some friends and enjoy specials every Monday -Friday from 3-­ 6 pm. You can get any of The RAM’s flagship brews for $3.75 every weekday during Happy Hour, $3.75 six oz. pours of house wine by the glass, and $3.75 well drinks. Don’t forget the discounted appetizers!

When it comes to football, The RAM has you covered with big screen TVs in each location. On Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays, when NFL games light up the screen, $5 game day drink specials are available from open to close. On top of that, you can get $1 off all of the RAM’s 18 oz. beers, so this is a great time to try them.

rambuttfaceRight now, seasonal beers include Another Hop Run, with pine and tropical fruit aromas and a hint of pepper; Imperial Winter Rye, with citrus and tropical notes complementing a rye malt character; and Nitro Tap, a rotating selection of brews served with nitrogen. Availability is variable based on location.

Signature RAM brews are always available. Blonde Ale, which features notes of honey, malt and citrus, goes well with salads, chicken, and seafood. Also try the Hefeweizen, a German-style beer with notes of banana and clove, also good with lighter meals. Big Red IPA, with a bold citrus hop flavor and hints of grapefruit, matches well with burgers and spicy dishes. Buttface Amber Ale, a smooth and malty beer with caramel and toffee flavors, works well with burgers and ribs. Total Disorder Porter, a rich beer with chocolate, coffee and caramel tones, is best with burgers, steaks, and desserts.

rampbjburgerTo accompany these special beers and tasty cocktails, The RAM offers an upscale bar and grill-style menu complete with pub burgers and sandwiches. Fish tacos and the SanDucci, a sandwich with ham, turkey, and pepperoni are on the menu, along with burgers. Try the BYO, and build it up with your choice of toppings. The Throw-Back Burger includes a 7 oz. beef patty, bacon, Buttface Amber Ale cheese sauce, and onion ring crown on a pretzel bun. The Santa Fe is a southwest-seasoned patty with roasted green chilies, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, chipotle mayo, pico de gallo, and cilantro pesto on a pretzel bun. We also like the Big Porter Blue, with porter beer-glazed onions, chipotle-garlic bacon, crumbled blue cheese, roma jam, and arugula on a parmesan-peppercorn bun.

Entree salads are available, along with grilled melts, and gluten-free options. The roasted prime rib dip is divine! Main dishes include chicken pot pie, RAM mac & cheese, Big Red IPA baby back ribs, and beer-battered fish and chips. Seafood and steak options are available too. Naturally, the RAM offers dessert as well; we recommend the Brownie Skillet Sunda and the Mile High Mud Pie.
