Macushla Brewing just opened next to Hackney’s on Lake Street just east of Waukegan in Glenview. While I haven’t been there yet, it is owned by a family member of the original family that started Hackney’s a long time ago so I’m sure it is good. The Facebook reviews are also very good. They don’t offer food but you can order from Hackney’s and they will bring it to you. Open Tuesday – Saturday 12 p.m. – 10 p.m., and 12 p.m – 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Earlier this summer, Buffalo Creek Brewing opened in Long Grove specializing in German and Belgium beers. This is another brewery on my list to visit. Buffalo Creek also has good reviews from Yelp and excellent reviews from Facebook. It’s located in the old art gallery on Old McHenry Road. It looks like they also have live music each week. Buffalo Creek Brewing is open seven days a week starting at 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

While not new this summer, Tighthead is one of our favorites. The owner is a former rugby player and the   name is a rugby term. They have beautifully designed cans and have even named one of their brews after a cycling team. Events include food truck on many Thursdays, Trivia Night on Wednesdays often live music on the weekends. You can also find their beers in area stores. If you are buying beer or having a small party, it is best to have crusher can. Tighthead is open Monday – Thursday from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. – 11 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
