Do you know where you’re celebrating your romance this week? It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so you better get those plans in motion. Here are a few of our favorite spots doing special things for this sweetheart holiday.
This Italian restaurant in the O’Hare area offers a romantic and authentic dinner for two for $125. Make reservations Friday, 2/9-Sunday, 2/11, or on 2/14, and get a special rose for your sweetheart. Special room rates at the Marriott Suites are also being offered.
This lovely hotel in Oak Brook will feature Valentine’s Day dining during two nights with different styles. On 2/10 from 5-10 p.m. in the Colonial Room, Valentine’s Dinner is served a la carte. Available starters are panko-crusted crab cakes ($16) and colossal shrimp cocktail ($16) and soups are Bookbinder Soup ($8,$10), French onion, ($8, $10), and Lobster Bisque ($9, $11). Salads include a baby iceberg wedge ($9) and classic Caesar ($9). For your entree, choose Surf & Turf ($65), Citrus Chilean Seabass ($42), Mesquite Seared French Chicken Breast ($26), Bone-in Cowboy Ribeye ($48), or Filet Mignon ($38). Dessert options are Death by Chocolate ($9), carrot cake ($9), traditional New York cheese cake ($9), and ice cream or sorbet ($7).
On 2/14, a prix-fixe Valentine’s Day is being offered for $55 per person in the Three Oaks Room from 6-9 p.m. The dinner includes a carving station with herb-rubbed prime rib, smoked pork loin, and encrusted New York sirloin steak. Chef’s Action stations include a steak flambe and pasta. Cold displays offer a bruschetta bar, domestic and imported cheese board, tossed salads, and a seafood bar. Entrees include beef short ribbs, Mediterranean chicken piccata, blackened wild salmon, steamed vegetables, House multigrain rice pilaf, smashed red bliss potatoes with smoked bacon, and green beans with caramelized onions and kalamata olives. A selection of miniature European desserts will also be on hand.
Make your reservation for either of these amazing evenings immediately! And, since you’re there anyway, consider continuing the evening with an overnight escape.
Dinner for two at this Randhurst Village restaurant in Mt. Prospect is an affair to remember! The Lovers Package includes a four-course Chef’s Menu, plus a pair of movie tickets to see “Fifty Shades Freed” and a stay at the Hampton Inn Hotel for $250. The meal, offered between 5-10 p.m., includes a starter, salad, entree (land or sea), dessert, cocktail, champagne, and pinot noir. The regular menu is also available on 2/14.
Both locations of Emilio’s Tapas, in Chicago and Hillside, are open for reservations on Valentine’s Day. At Hillside, musical entertainment will be offered. Nothing is better for the holiday than shared tapas!
Make a reservation at one of the Harry Caray’s locations in Chicago, Lombard, or Rosemont for a special meal for two! Get Your Perfect Match for $55.95 on 2/14 only – select two of the following: broiled Maine lobster, braised beef short rib, or roasted scallops. Finish with an amazing dessert called the Breaking Ball for $18.95 – a white chocolate concoction that you hit with a Harry Caray’s bat to reveal a heart-shaped piece of chocolate flourless cake, capucchino chocolate chip gelato, espresso cream anglaise, and mixed berries. You can even have the staff put a little something special inside, if you contact them in advance.
The special Valentine’s Day menu at this German eatery includes Munich-style specials on 2/10, 2/11, and 2/14. Soup options include creamy Bavarian potato soup and borscht ($6, $9). Specials include shrimp skewers ($22), ribeye steak ($26), vegetable of the day – grilled asparagus ($5), and a sachertorte dessert ($10). Gluhwein is $8 and seasonal beers and drinks are offered.
The historic St. Charles-based hotel offers dinner reservations on Wednesday, 2/14 from 5:30-10 p.m. at the ROX City Grill. You can also stay the night in one of the guest rooms or suites. Call the hotel for more information!
Spice your holiday up with a Mexican-inspired four-course Valentine’s Day pairing dinner at $60 per person, with each course being paired with Casa Noble Tequila! The location in Bolingbrook is offering a starter of Crema de Langosta, or lobster bisque, followed by Sope de Cecina, crispy corn masa boats with beef, black been puree, salsa, avocado, queso fresco, and crema. The entree is a roasted pork tenderloin with rose-colored mole, served with a plaintain puree and seasonal vegetables. Dessert is a Mexican goat’s milk caramel creme brulee. At the South Barrington location, start with corna masa pastry with ricotta cheese, pumpkin sees, pipian sauce, baby arugula and queso fresco. Follow it with a banana leaf tamal, filled with salted cod fish, veracruzana sauce, and goat cheese. Your entree is sauteed jumbo shrimp with rose petal mole, rice, and baby squash. For dessert, enjoy cafe de olla and soaked lady fingers.
This steak and seafood chain features locations in Skokie, Oak Brook, and Chicago, and has reservations open for Valentine’s Day.
The Amor por Favor sharing-style Valentine’s dinner is being offered at this River North eatery from 5 p.m.-close for $45 per person. Pick two guacamoles for the table, then pick two Botanas/Ceviches (quesadillas, flautas, callo de hacha, carmaron, mixto, dorado, and langosta are your potions), and then choose four delicious types of tacos. Yum. You’ll also pick two sides (such as brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, elotes, or creamy potatoes), and then one dessert per guest. Finish with chocolate covered strawberries.
